Changing Page Structure/Template

Here we learn how to change the page structure and template.

Page Structure & Template (What is the difference)

Every page has a page structure and a page template. The page structure controls the content of the page whilst the template controls the look. A page structure may have one or many templates attributed to it. Page structures are selected first and templates selected from those attributed to the structure.

Failure to set both a structure and a template together will result in an ugly TemplaVoila! Error on the front-end view. Make sure that both are selected from their respective drop downs.

Setting Page Structure/Template

  1. Click 'Edit Page Properties'
  2. Select the 'Page Template Structure' from the drop down
  3. Select the template from the 'Use Template Design' drop down or by clicking the template icon
  4. Check that both the Template Structure and Template Design are selected
  5. Save and Close

Failure to set both a structure and a template together will result in an ugly TemplaVoila! Error on the front-end view. Make sure that both are selected from their respective drop downs.

Setting Subpage Structure/Template

Set the subpage structure/template in exactly the same way as the page structure/template. The 'Subpages - Page Template Structure' drop-down is underneath the 'Page Template Structure' drop-down.

A subpage will inherit the subpage structure/template unless it has a page structure/template defined (it's subpages would continue to inherit the previously defined subpage structure/template unless the subpage defined its own subpage structure/template).
